Role of the Team Manager
The Team Manager handles the administrative and organisational aspects of the team, allowing the coach to focus on training and development. Key duties include communication, scheduling, game day coordination, and adherence to club policies.
Team Manager Responsibilities
Communication
- Set up team group chat via Messenger or Whatsapp.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the club, coaches, parents, and players.
- Provide information regarding training time, game times, court number and game locations and any changes.
- Address questions and concerns from parents and players.
- Check Majestri if any of the players do not consent to having their photographs shared online and adhere to this when taking team photos for social media or website purposes.
Scheduling
- Coordinate practice times and locations with coaches and the club.
- Ensure all team members are informed of the schedule and any updates.
Game Day Duties
- Prepare and distribute a scoring roster for games. This can be done via the team chat at the start of the season or week by week, making sure all families are take in turns of scoring.
- Ensure all players have the necessary equipment for training (basketball and drink bottle) and uniform for games.
- It is preferred that the Team Manager sits on the bench with the players and Coach to assist with substitutions or injuries (if required).
Pre-Season Preparation
Players Registration
Majestri
All players must be registered in Majestri via the club link
Play HQ Registration
· All players must register with Bendigo Basketball Association on Play HQ via the link sent from the Age Group Coordinator (AGC) before the season starts.
Identify players that are not registered to playHQ. Players will not show up on the iPad on game day if they are not registered and will not be covered for insurance purposes. No player is allowed to take the court if they have not registered.
Uniforms
- New players need to organise their uniforms as soon as possible through the uniform co-ordinator
- Urgent action is required to ensure uniforms are ready before the games start.
- Uniforms must be sorted by the end of the grading period (four weeks) to avoid penalties (points deducted) at each game.
- singlet numbers are limited, and players cannot choose their own to prevent duplication within the team or age group. Players need to receive singlets from the Uniform Coordinator.
In-Season Duties
Practice Organisation
- Communicate practice schedules to players and parents via the team chat.
Game Preparation
- Confirm game times details via the team chat.
- Remind families who is on scoring duty prior to the weekly games.
Scoring Duties
- Sharing scoring duties involves all families and distributes team responsibilities.
- Coaches' families are exempt from scoring duties.
- All scorers must be 12 years or older.
Scoring Roles
- Both teams must have a scorer ready at the table 10 minutes prior to the game starting.
- Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the coach(es) and all players present at the game are listed.
- Starting the clock.
- Recording all game scores and fouls.
- Ensuring the record matches the scoreboard.
- Providing updates to coaches as required.
